French Quarter Festival

Gary took the day off so that we could go to the French Quarter Festival. It was very windy, but a beautiful day! We used the man-on-man approach with the kids, because they had a lot to explore. You will probably notice that they both enjoyed looking at the ships on the Mississippi River. One of the pictures shows Reese taking great care of my crawfish bread, as she rides in the wagon. We did eat some good food!

Oh yeah . . . they also were VERY interested in the port-a-potties. Disgusting. They kept running toward them like they were Dora the Explorer's lost treasure. I am sure there are treasures in there, but not the kind they were thinking!

Zoo

We went back to the zoo this week! I am going to love this membership thing. It is really a good deal if you plan on going to the zoo and aquarium alot. The kids really enjoyed it, and they actually were not out of control! They like the statues and the birds. We rode the carousel and train, so it was an eventful morning. Brady was passed out in the car before we hit River Road!

Stop to smell the flowers!

Reese and Brady do this every day I take them to MDO. They stop and smell the flowers. No prompting. It's just like it is something they know they need to do. Shouldn't we all take a lesson? That is why I was glad to have my camera with me at church, when they found a new smelling spot!

Silly String

Well, our children hate silly string. That is really a shame, because Gary and I had a great time with it! Brady started crying, and the were both saying, "it's a mess, it's a mess!" That didn't stop us from using it until it was gone!

Happy Easter!

We have had a great Easter weekend, and today was beautiful. The weather is starting to get a little nasty now, but the kids were able to enjoy some time outside. Our church service was awesome, and the kids took a nap without resistance! What a day!

Crawfish with Uncle Darrin

We were able to go to a "last minute" crawfish boil at Uncle Darrin's, and it was yummy! Reese is becoming quite the crawfish eater! I really cannot believe she ate so much! I tried to teach her how to peel them, so it wouldn't interfere with my crawfish consumption, but she isn't quite there yet! The kids enjoyed watching the preparations, playing with the water hose, and Reese tried to help Darrin pay his bills. I told her if she was interested in that, she could get a job and pay all of our bills! This Mommy aims to please! Brady was excellent with the water hose. We are thinking that Darrin could help get him a job with the fire department.

Dinner

Thanks to Wendy and Joey, Gary and I were able to go out to eat for his birthday. It was so wonderful! We went to Irene's in the Quarter, and the food was fantastic. It was nice to eat without having to wipe someone's face down, pick food up off the floor, or have someone eating everything off my plate!

Playground

We found a new playground about 10 minutes from our house that was a big hit! It is a really safe, clean area, and the kids seemed to enjoy it. Free entertainment is always a winner with me! We went on Good Friday. Gary had off work, and Reese and Brady enjoyed the equipment, birds, squirrels, flowers, gates, etc. I guess we have a new play spot!

Happy Birthday Daddy and Nanna!

We won't mention how old he is, but it was Gary's birthday! I went all out by ordering a pizza and a "make-shift" strawberry shortcake. Actually, I made Gary order it, but I DID go and pick it up! It was a nice, relaxing evening. As relaxing as you get with 2 two-year olds!

Tumblebus Graduation

Well, now that it was the last session, the kids are in love with the Tumblebus! They talked about it all last week, and they could not wait to get on it today. Figures. They were really cute to watch, and they loved the "prizes" at the end. They didn't care too much for the certificates, but they thought the medals and candy-filled eggs were awesome!

No more Tumblebus?

Brady was obviously not ready for the fun to end. Needless to say, he wasn't really "digging" the awards ceremony - or participating for that matter!

Playing "picture time" before Tumblebus

The kids enjoyed looking at the action shots. These are not exactly professional . . . or flattering for that matter!

Jeanne's shower

What a wonderful celebration! Jeanne and Nicole are back from Kazakhstan, and she is gorgeous! She was so interactive and happy surrounded by so many unfamiliar faces. I was so glad that Reese and I were able to share in the joy! Jeanne and I are already discussing when to have the first play date!

Church Easter Egg Hunt

We had a big day today! Easter egg hunt at the church! They ate so much candy. At one point, Brady even ate through the paper to get the chocolate. I guess we should have just opened it for him! It was quite torturous for Gary and I, since we gave up chocolate for Lent. At one point, I looked over at Gary, and he had chocolate in his hands. He said he was opening it for Brady. Hmmmm. I guess that is between Gary and God! I don't think he cheated, but I know it was tempting!
